Our Beginners
We try and do something for everyone at our beginner sessions. We tend to adapt (wing it) on a per-session basis, depending upon who is there at the time.
This means that some weeks we'll do some more progressive stuff aimed at helping the beginners get into the intermediates and above session (our 'after 8's') and others we'll do some more structured learning of step patterns and rhythms to more straighforward dances.
If we have aany absolute beginners, we'll hold, by arrangement i.e. if they turn up so will we, a series of 'pre-beginner' sessions from 6·30 to 7·00pm in order to run slowly through enough basics to (hopefully) minimise confusion and promote progress. We also offer (free) handouts detailing basic step patterns and a number of 'exercise' sheets (homework?) giving a structured series of step sequences aimed at getting the dancers more familiar with the practical execution of the individual step patterns at their own pace in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
I've listed some of our current tranche of beginner dances below.
